micro:bit with Kids Code Jeunesse

November 28 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join Kids Code Jeunesse (KCJ) for an evening of hands-on learning with code on Nov. 28! During this workshop, we will introduce some of the main concepts of computational thinking as they apply to coding and hardware, like the micro:bit. A micro:bit is a small programmable computer – a single board, just larger than a matchbox – that primes students to explore the rich potential of physical computing.

In addition to getting familiar with the micro:bit and it’s online editor, MakeCode, we will make critical connections between process, design thinking, and non-technical activities that can later be modified to integrate the micro:bit for other existing lessons in the classroom. The micro:bit platform is well suited for middle-years instruction.

We will be offering a set of 10 micro:bits to attending teachers for continued use in their classrooms! Travel permitting, we can also work with you to deliver Micro:bit workshops in your classrooms over the next few months.

WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS: Please bring a fully charged laptop with USB port.

Note: Through our national CanCode network, SaskCode has partnered with Kids Code Jeunesse to bring this opportunity to any teacher who wants to attend. Teachers do not need to be part of SPSD, GSCS, PSSD, or STC to attend this free event.
